Registered Nutritional Therapy Practitioners identify underlying nutritional imbalances that may contribute to an individual’s symptoms and health concerns and recommend personalised nutrition and well-being programmes.
As part of the assessment process they may use the latest laboratory testing to help identify the root cause of an individual’s symptoms. Nutritional therapists recognise that we individuals are unique in terms of their genes, their lifestyles and dietary preferences and take this into account when assessing and giving advice.
Nutritional therapists do not diagnose or treat diseases and any recommendations are not a replacement for medical advice. Instead practitioners work alongside those in the medical profession to help support the wellbeing of clients. It is therefore recognised as complementary medicine.
Only practitioners who have undertaken accredited training can register with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) as well as the British Association for Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine (BANT).
